Enquiries and reader messages

The site uses email links rather than an online enquiry form. Clicking an email link opens your email application; it does not submit a message by itself. When you send an email, your email address, any name you provide, the message and attachments become part of the correspondence.

The purpose is to respond to your enquiry and manage the relevant conversation. The lawful basis for ordinary enquiries is legitimate interests: answering messages about our projects and potential collaborations. If your enquiry concerns entering a contract, the relevant basis may be taking steps at your request before entering that contract.

The website’s published enquiry addresses use Gmail. For The Rest of Me reader messages, the address is therestofmelac@gmail.com. Email is processed by the services used to send and receive it. Please contact us if you need details about the retention of a particular message. Avoid sending medical records or unnecessary sensitive information; The Rest of Me contact route is for reader messages, not medical advice.

Website hosting and technical information

The website runs on WordPress and is hosted using Namecheap’s EasyWP service. Hosting, caching, monitoring and security services process technical information needed to deliver and protect the website. EasyWP also provides server-side visitor and performance statistics. These can include information about requests and visits, such as IP addresses, pages requested, browser information and the time of a visit.

The purpose is to operate, secure and understand the performance of the website. The lawful basis is legitimate interests in maintaining a reliable website. Subscriptions and comments

There is currently no email-newsletter signup on this site. Following any of the website’s projects on Instagram is handled by Instagram, under its own privacy arrangements.

The current public pages do not display a visitor comment form. No commenter cookies are requested by those pages. If a comment facility is introduced, this notice will need to explain the information collected, moderation and any optional cookies before visitors use it.

Amazon affiliate links

The Rest of Me includes clearly labelled advertising links to Amazon UK. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Velatrix Global Ltd may receive a commission when a visitor makes a qualifying purchase after following one of these links.

The links include an Amazon-issued tracking ID so Amazon can attribute qualifying purchases to this website. There are no embedded Amazon product widgets, images or tracking scripts in this section. Following a product link opens Amazon, where Amazon handles your visit, cookies and any purchase under its own privacy notice and cookie notice. Amazon Associates reporting provides the company with information about affiliate activity and earnings; it does not give us your name, email address or delivery address as a purchaser.

Cookies and similar technologies

No advertising pixels or browser analytics tools are currently enabled in this site’s WordPress theme or active plugins. Instagram links and artwork are ordinary links and locally hosted images, rather than embedded Instagram feeds. Following an external link takes you to another service, where its own cookie choices apply.

Website technical information is handled within the hosting service; email correspondence is held within the email services used for the enquiry.
